About Us
We are a group of very passionate ordinary people who have experienced the transforming power of Jesus Christ personally and are driven by His unfailing love to share our experiences with every member of our community. Through the ages, pure Christianity has been bruised, battered, and in most cases summarily corrupted by people and religious institutions. The Christian life is to be lived –it is a lifestyle of love and genuine compassion for all. Jesus Christ demonstrated what it means to be a Christian through the lives of his early followers. These ordinary people went about positively touching the lives of members of their communities so much so that it earned them the title “Christians”. It was a lifestyle of faith and positive works. Members of the communities were convinced that it was not religious activities as usual, but for sure there was something very different about this group. BGMFE strives to be that group in the communities positively infecting the physical and spiritual lives of all.
So many things might have changed in our dispensation, but the most exciting thing is that Jesus Christ remains the same – incorruptible. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. If his followers then were able to (in the light of all their limitations) turn their communities upside down for good – we can in this our time do much more.
Jesus Christ positively impacted the lives of his followers who coincidentally were mainly the poorest of the poor then and who in turn became mighty instruments of positive transformation. They left their awesome footprint in every community they visited or settled in. It is this experiential transformation that drives BGMFE to positively impact our communities.
Jesus has the sole mission of giving the people “abundant life”. He knows that the religious leaders and the political leaders cannot not give the true life to anybody no matter how hard they try; neither could the structures and systems that mankind strives hard to put in place here and there. We de-emphasize the structures for which Christianity has been shrouded in for too long which consequently have rendered it impotent as a true and divine agent of transformation. Leaving the true fountain of life they have hewn for themselves broken cisterns that hold no water. They could neither help themselves nor those who run to them for help. Religion can build mansions, cathedrals and mighty edifices but only true love would build people, transform lives and create a better community.
The value of a single life is much more than all the material things we run after in our contemporary society to the destruction of many. But it is fair to acknowledge that this problem of failure of mankind to rightly place the real value to life and not in relation to material things is as old as mankind. Jesus Christ addressing related issue warned followers to “Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth” (Luke 12:15). But unfortunately, the more we acquire the more they become obsolete and the more new things we strive to acquire and so on. The desire to acquire more material things turns into a vicious cycle that ends (in most cases) in brokenness and emptiness in life. At a certain point many begin to question if life is really worth living. And whether there is anything more to life than these. Our sincere response is that there is more to life than what the marketers and advertisers have shown us on billboards and television screens. And for every single life in our community irrespective of social and political classification is fearfully and wonderfully made by God. This simple realization is the driving force behind this ministry. When we have the right perspective to life, we are moved beyond the mundane to positively affect one another and by extension our society. But this in itself is a tall order without divine transformation. We do not just claim to have been transformed we want to prove the extent of this divine work in our lives through service of love to our community. It is very easy to be a member of a religious organization but in reality that in most cases end up creating some kind of religious class – thus adding to the alienation of members of the community. No doubt that the religious groups at the time of Jesus Christ did not want to have anything to do with Him although He was the One that they were worshipping. Little wonder that it was the same religious groups that planned and executed him on the cross. The same attitude still thrives very well among Christians thus making it impossible for the light of Jesus Christ to shine in our dark world. It is therefore our mission to radiate the light of Jesus Christ in our community through ministering to the physical and spiritual needs of members of the community via homes within the community. Organic spiritual growth and sharing is encouraged and the Word of God forms the basis of every relationship.
Every member of the community is highly valued and treated as such in all our interactions. But in a situation where it is obvious that a member of the community needs extra attention due to his or her peculiar circumstances we would not hesitate to act accordingly. The driving force here is not our desire to be like one of the mainstream charitable organizations but in contrast our innermost yearnings to positively affect the lives of others with the true love of God in Christ Jesus; the same love that Jesus Christ shared abroad in our hearts and has commanded us to do likewise to our neighbours. There is no doubt that the golden rule hinges on true love for God and our neighbours. Therefore, for this ministry, our love for God is demonstrated through our love for our neighbours – our community. Mainstream religious and social organizations have succeeded in pointing out what might be necessary for a better society but the task of achieving such state remains elusive. In short, Christian organizations and religious groups who are supposed to be masters and well equipped in getting out the message of love and demonstrating the acts of love to the community are often bankrupt on these key values due to structural and institutional framework and huddles that stifle growth of the very thing they are set to accomplish. At the outset, the goals and the focus seem to be very clear – wholly directed to the wellbeing of the members of the community, but as time goes by the focus changes sharply and totally to using the people to maintain physical structures and sustain the institutional ideology. BGMFE therefore exists and strives to counter such trends and ensure that the people are the central focus and will remain so.
BGMFE therefore belongs to the community; it is for the community and by the community in the spirit of true love of God in the name of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
